About: I'm Jen. I live a few miles outside of Boston. I do web work for a non-profit during the day.

This web page has been in all sorts of forms since 1994 when I first wrote HTML in emacs on a Unix terminal at BU. Now I prefer BBEdit on my Mac. I'm never quite sure why I'm doing this

Cactus and music

New records from Bobby Bare Jr, Richard Buckner and the Lemonheads (haven't heard Evan Dando's voice in so long) were downloaded from eMusic, and the Oxford American's annual music issue was in the mail the other day with accompanying cd. All excellent. All this and participating in three different cd swaps. I have more music than I can digest right now. But I was reminded of Barcelona thanks to a swap. I heard them at the MIT Student Center a whole bunch of years ago and forgot I liked them. You can download their I have the password to your shell account from download.com.

And I saw lots of these last week

Fewer Moving Parts

The newish EP from David Bazan, Fewer Moving Parts is getting constant listens from me. What a great record.

Bradley's Alamanc has a great post about Bazan which includes some music from his Cambridge show (which I wish I had attended!). Don't Cry, I'm Not Gonna Hurt You is a particularly good song.

I've been listening to a lot of solo Colin Melloy and am happy a new Decemberists record will be out soon. The new Mountain Goats is so sad I can't always manage to listen to it. For someone who makes mixed cds called "Sadly" that's a big deal.
