About: I'm Jen. I live a few miles outside of Boston. I do web work for a non-profit during the day.

This web page has been in all sorts of forms since 1994 when I first wrote HTML in emacs on a Unix terminal at BU. Now I prefer BBEdit on my Mac. I'm never quite sure why I'm doing this

Beirut

Anthony Bourdain's got an article in Salon called Watching Beirut Die that is definitely worth reading.

Fox Confessor Brings the Flood

Girl with the parking lot eyes
Margaret is the fragments of a name
Her bravery is mistaken for the thrashing in the lake
Of a make believe monster whose picture was fake
Margaret is the fragments of a name
Her love pours like a fountain
Her love steams like rage
Her jaw aches from wanting
And she’s sick from chlorine
But she’ll never be as clean
As the cool-side-of-satin Pauline
Pauline
From "Margaret Vs. Pauline" on Neko Case's new record. This definitely will make my top 10 of the year.

Summer reading: one down

Just finished My Brother's Road: An American's Fateful Journey to Armenia by Markar Melkonian.

I didn't know much about Monte Melkonian before, but had seen his name mentioned countless times as an Armenian hero. His story is fascinating and helped me to understand more about Karabagh. I've just dusted off the photo book by Hrair Hawk Khatcherian called Karabagh as now the photos mean more to me.
