Now that it's summer

I'm reminded how much I hate Tevas. Specifically, pasty feet on flat foam core shoes with ugly patterned velcro backpack straps. It's like some kind of seatbelt holding your foot onto a raft.

That's it for now. Well, there are other cooking books: Heat by Bill Buford and maybe Anthony Bourdain's newest book, I'm not sure.

• Advice to All You Graduates: Let's Start With That Daily Latte . . .
  Good advice, but the part about ignoring your raises doesn't always work. Each time I've gotten a raise, my condo fee has gone up or my taxes have gone up. Personally, I've never felt the impact of a raise. So in essence, I guess I am ignoring them.

• Embracing a Proud Past, Joan Jett Keeps It Simple
  Joan Jett's was the first fan club I joined, at the age of 8 or 9. The article says: "It's hard to think of a cooler 80's rocker - maybe Axl Rose?" Ridiculous. They're no where near the same. Joan Jett had already proven herself in the 70s, too.
