About: I'm Jen. I live a few miles outside of Boston. I do web work for a non-profit during the day.

This web page has been in all sorts of forms since 1994 when I first wrote HTML in emacs on a Unix terminal at BU. Now I prefer BBEdit on my Mac. I'm never quite sure why I'm doing this

Boston Armenian Memorial

Apparently Menino opposes the Armenian Memorial on the new greenway. I'm not sure I see his point -- part of me understands not wanting to make the greenway a spot for memorials. However, what green space doesn't have some sort of memorial? And where the hell is an Armenian memorial around town?

There's the Holocaust Memorial and several Irish Potato Famine memorials. There's a Hungarian Revolution Monument. There's an African American History Museum and statues of Leif Eriksson.

Menino helped put a memorial to Sacco and Venzetti in the Boston Public Library!

I truly believe he just doesn't want a big deal about the Armenian Genocide going on in Boston, in a country where our president hasn't honored his pledge to recognize the Genocide.

Aside from all of that, it's the ignorant jerks on the Boston.com message boards that are really upsetting. I shouldn't have let myself read their posts. They have no clue.
