My name is Jen and I’m the director of marketing at Facing History & Ourselves. Our mission is: Facing History and Ourselves uses lessons of history to challenge teachers and their students to stand up to bigotry and hate. Important stuff.
Before this, I led digital marketing at Lesley University. And before that, I spent many years working for YouthBuild USA, where low-income young people find an opportunity to reclaim their education, gain the skills they need for employment and become leaders in their communities. It’s an amazing place.
I’m an english major turned web worker and marketer with a master’s degree in library and information science. I have a passion for solving problems informed by user experience, content strategy, information design, and the smart use of (often, open-source) technology. I am a big fan of using data to help make strategic decisions.
Some examples of my work and experience include:
- leading the redesign and development of Lesley.edu
- managing many different web projects at YouthBuild USA
- participating in the Sundance Stories of Change Impact Lab
- falling in love with user testing during the IA Project at Simmons Graduate School of Library and Information Science
